Compendio de la Filosofía y Destreza de las armas de Jerónimo de Carranza
15,00 €
In this work, Pacheco summarizes the key tenets of the *Destreza* (the Spanish school of swordsmanship) as presented in Jerónimo Sánchez de Carranza’s book, *Filosofía de las armas y su Destreza*. It is, in essence, a summary of the original text—devoid of commentary or marginal notes—with Pacheco’s role limited to editing and abridging Carranza’s work. At the time of its publication in 1612, Pacheco was still aligned with Carranza’s school of thought; however, he later drifted away, eventually rejecting it entirely. This edition presents only Pacheco’s original text, which has been reviewed and corrected against Carranza’s source material wherever errors or ambiguous passages appeared. Spelling and punctuation have been standardized, and certain obsolete terms have been updated to their modern forms (e.g., *ahora* instead of *agora*). As the work is structured as a dialogue, the characters have been identified and labeled. No other modifications have been made. The transcription and review were carried out by humans, without the use of AI. No notes or commentary are included. Our sole objective is to provide a clean, reliable text that is more readable than digital reproductions of the original—which retain the period’s typography and spelling—or mechanical transcriptions that may contain substitutions that fail to capture the original meaning.
