Estamos, portanto, face a uma obra previamente desconhecida.  <\/p>\n<p>O <em>Manuscrito<\/em> apresenta uma vis\u00e3o da esgrima no Portugal do s\u00e9culo XVII integrando elementos da Verdadeira Destreza e da ordin\u00e1ria ou vulgar. Descreve 64 feridas (tretas ou t\u00e9cnicas) com as suas respectivas contra-t\u00e9cnicas. Inclui algumas in\u00e9ditas, como a <em>Parafusada<\/em> ou a <em>Ferida do Duque de Alva<\/em>, al\u00e9m de coment\u00e1rios e glosas. Emprega uma linguagem acess\u00edvel mas s\u00e3o necess\u00e1rios conhecimentos b\u00e1sicos da Destreza.[:en]<span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">Anonymous work kept at the Livraria de Ajuda under the signature 49 -III- 6, bound in a single volume along with <a href=\"https:\/\/ageaeditora.com\/en\/livros\/lessons-of-mars\/\"><em>Li\u00e7\u00f5es de Marte<\/em><\/a> (also in our catalog). Because this work was the first one in the binding, the set was mistakenly listed as a single text. We therefore face a previously unknown work.<\/span>  <\/p>\n<p>The manuscript <span class=\"\">presents a vision<\/span> of fencing in Portugal&#8217;s seventeenth century, integrating elements of Verdadeira Destreza and the common or \u00abvulgar\u00bb tradition. 64 descriptions of <em>feridas<\/em> (techniques) <span class=\"\">with their respective<\/span> counter-techniques. Some of these were previously unknown, such as the <em>Parafusada<\/em> or the <em>Ferida do Duque de Alva<\/em>. It also includes comments and <span class=\"\">glosses<\/span>.   <\/p>\n<p>In order to make the text more accessible, we have translated the original portuguese source into english and spanish; added a glossary and a few reference resources. <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">The language is accessible <span class=\"\">but<\/span> <span class=\"\">a <\/span><span class=\"\">basic knowledge<\/span> <span class=\"\">of Verdadeira Destreza is necessary<\/span>, for which we advice the reader to build upon Mary and Puck Curtis&#8217; essay <em>From the Page to the Practice <\/em>(available as part of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freelanceacademypress.com\/intheserviceofmarsvol2.aspx\">In the Service of Mars, vol.
