This is a critical edition of the “Berlin Manuscript,” Ms. Phill. 1941, which contains the Cien Conclusiones and the Dieciocho Contradicciones of Luis Pacheco de Narváez, as well as several other texts and images. The transcription and editing was done by Samara Ajjour, Jan Schäfer and Manuel Valle Ortiz.

The manuscript was considered to have been lost since the late nineteenth century, until it appeared in the second half of the last century in Kristeller’s catalog of 1963, in a generic form, without being originally linked with the lost title. Now we can prove that it is, in effect, a handwritten and illustrated version of classic texts of the Pachecista Verdadeira Destreza.

The text is very close to the printed edition, perhaps derived from it. It contains as its particular content solutions to the “tretas vulgares” described in the Dieciocho Contradicciones.

In addition to the Conclusiones and Contradicciones, the book includes a section describing the «tretas» of the Verdadeira Destreza, a series of definitions in the form of a question-answer dialog, and an explanation with illustrations of footwork, body lines, right angle, the medio proporcionado, the execution of the atalho and the movement of conclusion.

This fair book thus comes to replace in the catalog our out-of-stock first edition of the Cien Conclusiones.
